The end of the world's largest ivory market was announced today by the Chinese government. Domestic ivory sales will be banned by the end of 2017 with the first batch of factories and traders to close their business by March 2017. China's impending exit from the ivory trade is the greatest single step that could be taken to reduce poaching of elephants. We will continue to support their efforts through education and persuading consumers not to buy ivory. @wildaid #excellentnews ๐Ÿผ

"I love the weight of this necklace, the timelessness of its simple yet powerful design and the contrast between the gold and leather. The symbolism behind Pembe Club's hand-carved jewellery makes each piece extra special, driven by their mission to protect nature and the wild, it's wonderful to know they donate a percentage of each sale to support the conservation of wildlife." Thank you @stormykeating & @positiveluxury for your support! ๐Ÿผ

Today is World Elephant Day, an occasion to celebrate these wonderful and majestic animals and draw attention to their plight for survival that is still ongoing… While there have been some successes in recent years ( 79% reduction in poaching in Kenya in the past 3 years), there are still some areas that remain blighted by the killing; Central and West Africa in particular, SA's Kruger Park, Tanzania, Zambia…More efforts are needed to end the demand for Ivory… We strongly believe that the organisations that we support can make a difference… Please help us to support them too… #elephants #elephant #stopthepoaching #stopthekilling #ivoryforelephants @wildaid @tusk_org e tutti quantti

Thank you @wherelondon for featuring our Mnemba Choker with Seahorse in the Chinese edition- this means a lot since China is the key market for Ivory and we need to get the message across that buying ivory is absolutely not acceptable nor an option… And neither is their consumption of sea horses which is totally depleting the oceans of these magnificent creatures #conservation #jewellery #designedtomakeadifference #stoppoaching #stopthekilling …..Thank you @wherelondon & @mmmanagement ๐Ÿผ Browse our Pendants Bar and design your own choker at www.pembeclub.com to raise awareness and funds for the survival of elephants in Africa…

Two Chinese given 30 years each for trafficking Ivory. They were caught in possession of 706 tusks. They were given an extra five years each for trying to bribe police and wildlife officers with $15,000. 30 years rotting in a Tanzanian jail is akin to a slow and painful death, that's what they deserve although these are just the runners and fixers and the kingpins remain at large… #stoppoaching #china #stopthekilling #ivoryforelephants . Applause to the authorities for this arrest and conviction ๐Ÿผ
